Thing #14

After looking at the different types of flow charts and mind maps I decided that I would rather use the mind map. I chose this one because for me it makes it easier for me to see how everything connects. You can have one big topic and then break down the topic with different facts on the topic. For me being able to see how all the facts relate and way it is organized it better for me understand what the mind map is providing information on. I liked bubbl.us between the two mind maps I like how the bubble in the middle is one color and the ones attached to it is another. Also I like how once you branch off the topic you can have a branch off the idea connected to the topic.

This could be really helpful when it comes to school. Students can use them to study as well as gather information when working on a project. Using mind maps is a great tool for students to use for brainstorming. There are many uses for mind maps. Teachers and students have to find the one that fits their learning style and use it.

Thing #13

When exploring on Zoho I used the word document and the presentation. On the word document I used it to make a to do list. Also I played around with the presentation to see the different things that you can do with it.

Students can use Google Docs to share what they are working on and let other contribute to their work. Also students can collaberate with who they want to work it. Google Docs lets you modify others work this can help students who are working together on a project and not in the same place be able to make changes to the work.

When exploring between the two Zoho and Google Docs I decided that I like Google Docs better. Google Docs give you more options to share and work with others better. Also with Google Docs you can take it with you wherever you go because they have a mobile app.  Zoho has a mobile app too but I like the way Google Docs app is setup better.

Thing #5

School 2.0 means using the internet in the classroom more. You can share and get almost any type of learning material you could need to teach. As a teacher you will have to have to teach students how to find the right type of material. Also teachers are going to have to explain the difference between scholarly information and information that might not be accurate. For schools in the future they are going to be centered more around technology. The students will probably have books on a device and use devices to turn work in instead of paper. Also teachers will have to make their lesson plans work with the technology in the classroom. Web 2.0 makes getting information easier. Even though there is a lot of information we have to figure out what we need to focus on. With school 2.0 the way teaching is going to completely change.

https://www.google.com/calendar/render?tab=mc&pli=1&gsessionid=yTmLy4fBGO43H6IDi8LfbQ

Here is a link to the calendar that I created using google calendar. I tried using the Google Alerts FQA to see how it worked. You can use the calendar to show students and their parents when things are due or upcoming events. The Google Alerts FQA could be used in the class room to send alerts about news paper articles on a topic being discussed in class. As a teacher you can use the calendar as a way to do a lesson plan. Also you can make up a calendar for each student to have at their desk so they can stay on top of things that are happening in class. The Google Alerts was kind of confusing when you first start using it. These two tools have many ways to be used in a classroom.

Thing #11

The easiest method of finding feeds for me was the google blog search.  It helped me find a variety of different blogs that met my interest. The technorati was confusing for me I could not figure out which ones were for the RSS and there were to many different things going on there for me. I found feeds about things you can do in your classroom. There is one that I follow called Ladybug's Teachers Files that have a lot of good ideas for your classrooms. Also it has ideas for worksheets and projects you can use. One unusal one I found was about a taco. Other tools I used to find blogs were links that were on the blog I was reading.

Thing #10

When it comes to RSS and newreaders I think that it is a good idea.  This way you get to receive the information you always look up with out having to go look and see if they updated it. For school I could use this by finding sites that have ideas about whys to do things in the classroom and when a new one comes it shows up instead of me having to find it. Also I could use it to talk about a topic over a period of time.  I could have the students pick what they want to talk about and then subscribe to a site that has information on the topic and we can watch as a class for new information to arrive. For my personal use I can use it to see the different trends of fashion that is going on as well as many other options.  Teachers can use this to their advantge by saving time on having to find out the new information on something they already looked up. They can have it show up in a feed and then incorperate the information into their lesson. There are many ways teachers can use this to their advantage the teacher just has to decide on how they are going to use it.

HEY JACK!

This is the link to make a license plate. http://license.plates.txt2pic.com/
I chose to make a license plate because it looked fun to do.  I could use this with my students to talk about different states.  Also I could use this site with my students to let them create a license plate that represents who they are.  They can choose which ever state they want and then type whatever they want to.   Using this site I can allow my students express themselves and their creative abilities.  This site could also be used a a project for my students.I created mine based off one of my favorite TV shows Duck Dynasty.
