Is It The End or Only The Begining?

As I went through all of the things we had to do there were a few that were my favorite. One of my favorite things was when I used the Animoto to create a 30 second clip. Also I really liked when I had to create an avatar. I liked how I got to design it to look however I wanted it to. By doing this program I have decided that I want to make sure that I keep up with the new technology and how I can use it in my future classroom. As I was going through this I would have to say that an unexpected thing would of been how easy it was to do the things. When I heard I had to create a blog and complete all these different task on technology I thought it would be hard but to my surprise it wasn't that hard. If I had to suggest one thing to improve on with this program would be maybe have better instructions when it comes to inserting links. At times I had a hard time trying to figure out the correct way to make it work. When I become a teacher I plan on taking what I learned and incorporate it into teaching my students whether it is using a video in class or creating some type of social networking page the parents and students can get on to find out information about what is going on in the classroom. I plan to keep up with the new developments on the web by checking websites and having time set aside for me to explore what is going on in the world of technology.

My resolution is that I will continuing my learning by using RSS for feed about the new advancements in technology. Also I will take time to remake my blog so that it will be a tool that I can use in my future classroom. I am going to try and get comfortable with the tools that I have learned and find ways to use them in my classroom.

Thing #23

Learning 2.0-23 Things is  created around different sources that are open for public use. These sources provide ideas about educational information and how to work with them. Google, Wikis, Flickr, and Facebook are just some of the many examples of sources used. Because the are open to the public and for educational use  they are allowed to be used.

After exploring the different sources I have a better understanding of Creative Commons and fair use. With my new understanding I can now know what I can and can't use in my future classroom.

Another one is called classroom decor which has different ideas for teachers to decorate their classroom. Finally there is classwork templates which has links to different templates to use in the classroom on different subjects.

Thing #21

Twinkie

When making this video I had a great time. I liked how there was different types of styles to choose from. Also I liked how you can choose from different songs they have on there or how you can upload your own song. When it came to making this clip I chose to use pictures of me and my sister. My sister is getting married and so this part of the project gave me the perfect opportunity to look back on the good times we have had so far. Being able to pick the pictures you want or being able to upload a video to put into clip was also a good feature. Animoto is a very user friendly site and I feel that anyone could use it. As a teacher there are many different ways that you could use Animoto in the classroom.

Thing #20

I like how when you are on YouTube you can search for all types of videos. Also I like how you can post your own video on there and have others see your post. I chose this video because I feel like it fits perfect with what we are learning about in class. This video gives ten reasons why teachers should use technology in the classroom. You could use this site for  your library website for students to be able to see what a book is about before they read it.

Thing #19

Some online communities I am a part of is GoodReads, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram. I have used GoodRead for one of my Children's Literature class. I like how on GoodReads you can find books that you might be interested in and see what others said about it. Also you can chose a genre of the book you want to read and see what is a popular book to read. Another website from the list of social networking sites on thing 19 I tried the Project Playlist. I liked how on Project Playlist you can find the songs that you like to listen to a create a playlist for them. Also I like that you can have as many playlist as you want. Some of the most appealing sites for me is Pinterest and GoodReads because they have great ideas as well as provide feedback on what others think about whatever you are looking up. I plan on using Pinterest and GoodReads when I am a teacher because they have good tools to use when I become a teacher.

Thing #18

It is important for educators to know about social networking because it could be part of their students lives. Also social networking is good for educators because it gives them a way to communicate with other educators and get advise and see how things are going for them in their classrooms. When creating my Twitter account I gained more knowledge of being able to find resources that I might need when teaching. I liked how these sites provide an easy way for people to communicate better with one another. I liked Facebook more when comparing being able to talk with different people. However, when it came to being able to see the new ideas and updates that come along I like Twitter better for that. I could use Facebook in my classroom by having a Facebook page for my class that way my students' parents can add or like my page and get the latest information about what is going on in the classroom.
